L’dor V’dor: From Generation to Generation with Ruth Cohn, MFT

November 3, 2023 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

There is a saying in Judaism — L’dor v’dor which literally means from generation to generation. Typically, it is understood to mean the transmission of a culture’s values, rituals, traditions, and history to the next generation. In the context of neglect, this saying takes on a deeper meaning. The intergenerational transmission of trauma can be very insidious, and it may appear in ways you wouldn’t expect.

Join Ruth Cohn for a fascinating presentation that takes a look at the process through which trauma can unwittingly be transferred from one generation to the next, and the lasting impacts this can have on the adult children who have experienced it.

The learning objectives for this program:

  • To gain understanding and have a working definition of neglect trauma.
  • To develop a “no blame” view/understanding of how neglect moves through generations and how to “break the chain.”
  • To understand and prepare for special challenges in the treatment of survivors of childhood neglect.
