An Expansive Approach to Navigating Desire Discrepancy in Therapy [On Demand]

June 25 - July 31

Every type of therapist is confronted with issues about sex. Whether you work with kids exploring sexuality, intimate partners with differing desires, individuals navigating asexuality, or elders wondering what to expect when aging, you want to be able to support your clients.

In this video from our colleagues at the Academy of Therapy Wisdom, Rafaella Smith-Fiallo, MSW gives you key insights about how to help your clients talk about sex that you can start using right away in your practice:

Rafaella is an international educator, consultant, and author. She has two mottos that drive her practice and personal life, “You deserve peace and pleasure in all of your relationships, especially the one with yourself,” and “If you want things to be different, you have to do things differently.” Watch this video to see her mottos in action.

In this video, you’ll learn:

  • How to have an expanded, inclusive, and updated understanding of sexuality and sexual desire so you can integrate a sex-positive, trauma-informed approach in therapy
  • How to normalize sexual desire discrepancies so you can get to the root of the problem: communication
  • Communication skills for resolving sexual issues
  • The 6 Ps of sexual desire so you have a framework for assessing sexual desire through multiple lenses to reveal underlying issues

Learn how to create comfortable conversations about sex so even non-sex therapists can help their clients without referring them out.

Join Rafaella in her commitment to engage in and create radical change and community liberation.
